SAFETY TIPS
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children under age 4 and the second leading cause of death for children under age 15. We want to change that!
Tips to help keep your family safer around the water:
✅ Remove toys after swimming.
Children are tempted to reach for them.
✅ Always designate a “Water Watcher.”
An adult should actively watch the water—no phones!
✅ Stay within arm’s reach of young children.
This is called “touch supervision.”
✅ Understand that drowning is silent.
It doesn’t look like splashing —watch for subtle signs.
✅ Teach kids how to swim early.
Even basic skills can dramatically reduce risk.
✅ Practice floating and treading water.
These are survival skills, not just swim skills.
✅ Learn CPR and rescue breathing.
Quick action can save a life before help arrives.
✅ Install proper pool barriers.
Self-closing, self-latching gates are critical.
